The 1990 second-generation Integra sports sedans were released earlier this year by American Honda's Acura Division. The Integra series offers a brand-new 4-door sedan and 3-door hatchback body designs, each with a new GS grade level. The 1990 Integra includes a new 1.8 litre DOHC fuel-injected engine, which produces 130 horsepower, 4-wheel double wishbone suspension, a new, speed-sensitive variable assist power steering system, and ergonomically designed interiors and controls. The new GS model has anti-lock brakes, an uncommon feature in cars in this price range. The distinctive, wedge-shaped Integras were created using the most recent computer-aided design techniques and intensive wind tunnel testing to achieve rigid body structures and good aerodynamics. The 4-door sedan is rated at 0.34 in terms of drag coefficient, compared to 0.32 for the 3-door. Design elements like slender roof pillars and sashless doors are used for a modern hardtop appearance. Over 320 degrees of outside view are provided for the driver due to the vast usage of glass. A new, 4-cylinder engine that powers the 1990 Integra uses technology created for Honda Research and Development's championship-winning Formula 1 racing program. The 1834 cc, 1.8 litre, all-aluminium engine has four valves per cylinder, twin overhead camshafts, and programmed fuel injection. It produces 121 lb-ft of torque at 5000 rpm and 130 horsepower at 6000 rpm.

The combustion chambers' pentroof form and the spark plugs' central placement allow for maximum flame propagation and complete combustion. Torque is increased, notably in the low and mid-range of the rev range, thanks to the 4 valves per cylinder design in conjunction with meticulous intake and exhaust system tuning. Standard equipment is a 5-speed manual transmission with more giant synchromesh gears in the first and second gears to better manage the engine's higher torque. A shift lever with a short throw has a sharp, accurate feel. A 4-speed automatic transmission with sport mode selection by the driver is offered. This performance mode, which incorporates Acura Legend technology, enables the information to shift at higher RPMs for more energetic driving. The Integra of the second generation has a double wishbone 4-wheel independent suspension. Front and rear stabilizer bars, new front nitrogen gas-pressurized shock absorbers, and progressive rate rear springs improve handling and comfort. A new electronic speed-sensitive variable power assist system is used in the rack-and-pinion steering, offering a more linear transition between aid levels for a more precise and responsive steering feel. Standard 4-wheel disc brakes are used for braking.
The new Anti-Lock Braking system in the Integra GS models uses sensors at each wheel to identify impending lockup. Upon detection, the ALB system adjusts hydraulic pressure to keep steering control while allowing the wheels to rotate without losing braking power. The new Integra's interior has been ergonomically designed. The instrument panel is shaped like a wing and wraps slightly around the driver. Analogue instruments have dials that are white on black. All Integra models have an adjustable steering column, a digital quartz clock, and a low-fuel warning light. The 3 and 4-door sedans have a 60/40 split rear seatback with access to the spacious trunk space, maintaining utility and cargo-carrying ability. The new Integra's front bucket seats were made with support and comfort in mind. Driver-adjustable lumbar support is standard on LS models, while adjustable side bolsters are added to GS models. All Integra models have a two-point motorized, passive front restraint system, an active lap belt, and padded knee bolsters hidden beneath the instrument panel. Three-point shoulder and lap belts are available for the outboard rear passengers. Additionally, childproof back door locks are included with all four door variants. All Acura vehicles offer a limited warranty of three years and 36,000 miles.
